Honkai: Nexus Anima Lore Updates
A Traveler's Guide to the Planes | Nexus and Aspects
Honkai: Nexus Anima (HNA) recently revealed more information about the game’s features, and developer HoYoverse continues to share more details about its lore. In a post on the game’s official Twitter (X) on August 31, the developers introduced fans to the concept of "Nexus."
Based on the information revealed so far, HNA is expected to share a similar world-building style with other HoYoverse titles, such as Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, featuring detailed lore, deep character stories, and the introduction of several new terminologies and concepts.

The Nexus is defined as "the fundamental connections between all things," connecting everything together during a time when "nothing existed in true isolation." The game's story, however, seems to take place after a cataclysmic event called "The Sundering," which broke the Nexus, severed "stable connections," and scattered the Nexus across the world, taking the shape as "Nexus Anima."
Nexus Anima are creatures of "Aspect" energy. Using Animas, people who control them, known as "Animasters" settle their disputes in Nexus Battles, which is the auto-battler gameplay of the game.
In a subsequent tweet on September 2, 2025, HoYoverse delved deeper into the game’s terminology, focusing on Aspects. Based on the post, Aspects are the philosophical and scientific concepts that build the foundations of the Old World. These are paired, such as Light and Dark, Life and Death, and many more, which contrast the New World that functions independently.
After The Sundering, the connections between these Aspects were severed, and the fragments that came from it became 81 universes called the "Planes." Additionally, characters known as "Sovereigns" and "Novarchs" will also play important roles in the game, described as powerful rulers of the "Old World" and "New World" respectively. More details regarding these characters are available on HNA's official website.
Other HoYoverse Characters Possibly On The Way

When the game was first teased during Honkai Star Rail’s Concert livestream on May 4, fans immediately noticed the inclusion of characters from other HoYoverse titles, particularly Honkai: Star Rail’s (HSR) Blade and Honkai Impact 3rd’s (Hi3) Kiana. This opened up the possibility of including more characters from other HoYoverse games in HNA.
One of the characters fans are mentioning is Kafka, who is closely related to Blade. Both are Stellar Hunters from HSR, and many are theorizing that she may be the Sovereign that Blade is searching for based on his character description.

However, despite HoYoverse creating games that have similar concepts or ultimately share the same universe, they have yet to confirm whether HSR and/or Hi3 are directly related to HNA, or which characters may also crossover to their new game. Regardless, fans are excited by the possibility that their favorite characters from such games may also make an appearance in HNA.
With HoYoverse sharing more information about the game, fans are now excited and expect to get a closer look at the gameplay and gacha mechanics soon. Honkai: Nexus Anima is being developed for mobile devices (iOS and Android) and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.
