HITMAN 3 5th Anniversary Updates
HITMAN: World of Assassination Cross Progression Starts February 3

HITMAN 3 celebrates its fifth anniversary with a new cross-progression system for HITMAN: World of Assassination (WoA). In a blog post on IO Interactive’s official website on January 20, the developers shared details about the upcoming updates for their iconic stealth title.
The cross-progression will be available starting on February 3, allowing players to share their saves across all of HITMAN: WoA’s platforms, which include PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, iOS devices, and PC via Steam and Epic Games.
Primary IO Account and Shared Data

Once cross-progression is enabled, all data will be stored online and shared across all supported platforms. Rather than merging different save files, players must select one existing platform profile to serve as their primary account, which will be the basis for other linked platforms.
Shared data on all platforms includes Experience, Player Level, Challenges, Location Mastery, Unlocks and Inventory, Achievements/Trophies, Freelancer Mode Progression, and Campaign Story Progress.
However, DLC and DLC unlocks are not included in cross-progression, meaning players must first own the DLC on that specific platform to access it. Essentially, while player progress is shared, licenses to access certain content do not transfer between storefronts and must be individually purchased for each platform.
Old Game Saves Explained

IO Interactive noted that enabling the cross-progression system means that old save games created on non-primary linked accounts will not be loadable. The primary platform account will override all the saves across all other linked platforms to fully realize the cross-progression.
However, players can revert to their old progress from their non-primary linked accounts by simply disabling the cross-progression at any time. This allows for a full recovery of local data on individual platforms without permanently losing the previous saves associated with those specific accounts.

Meanwhile, the HITMAN 2 to HITMAN 3 Carryover system will now be closed after February 3. This is in part due to IO Interactive’s goal of unifying everything under the new cross-progression system, emphasizing "data integrity and prevent[ing] conflicts between legacy progression systems and the new unified WOA progression."
Players have until February 3, 9:00 UTC / 10:00 CET / 4:00 ET / 1:00 PT to carry over their data from HITMAN 2 to HITMAN 3/WoA, allowing them ample time to do so before it permanently closes. IO Interactive has provided a full guideline on this process, which can be found on the Progression Carryover webpage.

In 2021, IO Interactive released HITMAN 3 as the final chapter of the World of Assassination trilogy. It was then, in 2023, that they rebranded the title into HITMAN: WoA, compiling all content from HITMAN 1, 2, and 3.
"As part of that special milestone, it was also important for Hitman to equip its players with a sense of continuity by allowing everyone to bring forward their established progression from previous parts," IO Interactive stated.
