Helldivers 2 Studio Denies Rumors of Being Acquired by PlayStation
"I mean... We are owned, but only by the founders (including me) of the studio."
"This is fake... Unless I've missed something 🤔 Also, a really sh**ty old logo from 2008 or so when we just started the studio," wrote Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Johan Pilestedt on Twitter (X) in reply to rumors about the Helldivers 2 studio being acquired by PlayStation's Sony.
Rumors suggesting Sony's alleged acquisition of Arrowhead arose following the success of Helldivers 2 on PS5 and PC platforms. Pilestedt stated that it was the first he had heard of such an "acquisition," and clarified the situation.
"We are not owned. We are independently owned!" the CEO added in another tweet. "I mean... We are owned, but only by the founders (including me) of the studio."
Published by PlayStation Studios and Sony Interactive Entertainment, Helldivers 2 has enjoyed significant success on the PS5, and particularly on Steam, where it remains among the top 10 most played games boasting over 450,000 concurrent players. This marked Helldivers 2 becoming the first PlayStation game to pass 100k Concurrent Players on Steam.
