Silent Hill and Slitterhead's Toyama Seeks New Developers to Join His Studio
HRMOS Details Application

Silent Hill and Slitterhead creator Keiichiro Toyama has revealed on the Japanese recruitment site HRMOS that they are currently hiring new people to join their core team at Bokeh Game Studio as they move forward with their next major project. Though the announcement offers few specifics on the new game, Toyama makes it clear that originality remains the studio's primary driving force and a key requirement for potential applicants.
"We do not create things that anyone else could make," the post read. "This isn't about being eccentric for the sake of it; it is about an unwavering commitment to asking ‘Why are we making this?’ and ‘Why must it be us who makes it?’ until the very end."

Toyama elaborated that he is looking for collaborators who align with their central philosophy. "People who, even amidst doubt or hesitation, maintain the will to ‘make something interesting anyway’ and continue to challenge themselves through creation," he said.
Given that the project is still in its early conceptualization, he stressed that successful applicants will be integral to its "very foundation," with their choices and "struggles" having a definite impact on the final output. "Because we are moving forward through trial and error from the very earliest stages, the road ahead will not be easy," he stated, adding that team members will gain "an irreplaceable experience" from their involvement this early on.
New Game is Unlikely Slitterhead Sequel

In a July 2025 interview with Famitsu, Toyama clarified that a sequel to Slitterhead is not on the horizon just yet. "It's not quite that simple," he said. "I think the possibility is there if the right 'necessity' aligns in the future, but at the very least, it won't be happening anytime soon."
From this, he seemed to imply that their upcoming project might not be directly tied to Slitterhead, potentially tempering speculation that could have arisen from Slitterhead being the studio's first-ever title. That said, this interpretation is not definite, and as of writing, the studio remains tight-lipped on additional information about its "new large-scale project."
"Right now, I feel like we need to rally the full strength of the entire studio once again to tackle what's ahead," he stated.

Before founding Bokeh Game Studio, Toyama had already established himself as the creator of the renowned psychological-survival horror franchise, Silent Hill, with Konami. He later joined Sony Interactive Entertainment, where he developed the survival horror stealth title Siren and, afterward, the action-adventure Gravity Rush. In 2020, Toyama left Sony to co-found Bokeh Game Studio.
Four years later, Bokeh released Slitterhead, a horror-action-adventure in which an entity known as "Hyoki" must eliminate Slitterheads concealed within human society, masquerading as ordinary citizens. According to the developers, during a 2022 Q&A session, Slitterhead's gameplay was inspired by Gravity Rush and Siren.
Slitterhead is currently available on Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and PC via Steam and Epic Games. For our review of the game, check out the article below!
