Season Pass 4 Playable Character Venom
During the ARC WORLD TOUR Finals 2024 on March 23, Arc System Works and Bandai Namco revealed a trailer for Guilty Gear Strive’s 2nd Season Pass 4 character. Venom returns to the series and much to everyone’s surprise, is now available in the game.
Venom was first introduced as a playable character in Guilty Gear X, and has been a recurring character in the series since then. On Guilty Gear’s official website, Venom’s description reads, "He is a gentle and honest man who can barely bring himself to lie. There is a rigidity to his speech that suggests he favors reason above all else, but in fact, he places high importance on emotion, empathy, and humility. During the battle with Bedman, the leader of the Assassin’s Guild Venom dies–to the outside world, at least. After Robo-Ky saves his life, he attempts to fund his repairs by taking any work he can get, until Zato gifts him ownership of the store where he opens his bakery."
Arc System Works mentioned in their roadmap that Venom would be released in early 2025. However, they posted on their website on January 17 that the release timing for Venom alongside updates to the Network Mode and Training Mode would be changed to after the ARC WORLD TOUR Finals 2024. Although this was the case, fans did not expect Venom’s release immediately after the event.
Patch Notes for Version 1.44
After maintenance on March 24, a new update for Guilty Gear Strive on all platforms was released to accommodate the addition of Venom. Version 1.44 saw general and game mode updates, a new digital figure, issue fixes, and battle-related adjustments.
Other than Venom being playable, Guilty Gear Strive added in-game related items such as his theme "A Tenth of Myself", new Venom avatar items, and 2 of his BGM from previous Guilty Gear titles. There are also new dialogue interactions for the pre-battle introduction sequence with Leo vs. Ramlethal, Leo vs. Sin. and Millia vs. Millia.
A new digital figure for Queen Dizzy is now available which can be obtained in-game via "fishing." The patch also addressed minor issues and updated the Battle version from Ver.4.02 to Ver.4.03, having adjustments on characters such as Chipp, Faust, Happy Chaos, and more.
GUILTY GEAR -STRIVE- continues adding content and updates with more to come based on their roadmap. The game is available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
