Employees to Return to Office Full-Time for Security and Productivity
Rockstar Games announced it is reinstating a full return to office (RTO) policy beginning in April as it enters the final stages of development for the latest installment in the GTA series, GTA 6. According to Bloomberg, Rockstar Games head of publishing Jenn Kolbe cited in an email addressed to employees that productivity and security reasons were key factors in the RTO mandate.
Further, she mentioned "tangible benefits" of in-office collaboration, stating "these changes now puts us in the best position to deliver the next Grand Theft Auto at the level of quality and polish we know it requires."
Kolbe also mentioned that Rockstar has put in place a publishing roadmap that matches the scale and ambition of the game. Although it is entering the final phase of development, GTA 6 is reportedly unlikely to launch within the previously anticipated early spring 2025 window.
Security remains paramount to the company, especially in light of a data breach that occurred previously, resulting in the leak of GTA 6's official trailer, which also led to financial losses for Rockstar Games.
Other major gaming companies like Insomniac Games and Epic Games had also fallen victim to cyberattacks in recent times.
GTA 6 launches for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S and follows a new protagonist and her partner in the crime-ridden streets of Vice City. To learn more about the game, read our article at the link below!
