With the hype of a new GTA game coming out soon, everyone was ready for the scheduled trailer to drop. However, it seems that sometimes good things come to those who looked out early.

GTA 6 Trailer Shown Ahead of Schedule Due to Leak

While the original trailer was supposed to have a global release time of December 5 9AM ET, Rockstar released the trailer more than 12 hours ahead of schedule. This was due to a leak of the game’s trailer already out in the open.

GTA 6 Leaker’s Account Suspended on Twitter

With the apparent leak going out in Twitter (X), the platform decided to suspend the account immediately after the act. Alas, it was already too late. The low-res and heavily watermarked trailer had already made its rounds on the platform. Given how much hype there is with the game, extremely die hard fans were foaming at the mouth just trying to look for a crumb of information regarding the game.

GTA 6 Developers and Fans Reaction

On the topic of the trailer, fans were excited to see the newly-realized Vice City and the state of Leonida. Inspired by the many locations of Florida, the game will feature two protagonists living a life of crime seemingly needing to stick together to survive. Fans expressed the accuracy of Rockstar's depiction of Florida that some even expressed their willingness to make the "Florida man" meme come to life in the game. The trailer also features the song "Love Is A Long Road" by Tom Petty and is on track to be one of the biggest game trailers in YouTube with more than 27 million views in its first 4 hours.

Rockstar developers expressed their feelings about the trailer as well. Seeing that the game took a decade to make, they deserved a more gratifying moment regarding their work. Most of the developers are immensely proud of the work they’ve done, and some even cried tears of joy at the response of the fans that they got regarding the trailer. The game will be coming out exclusively on consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series X|S) and is slated to release in 2025.

Riding the Wave

It’s no secret that everyone was excited in anticipation for a trailer to drop, since the last GTA game was released a decade ago. Everyone was so hyped that a week ago, even other developers and studios such as 343 Games (Halo Infinite), Whatboy Games (Fall Guys), Rare (Sea of Thieves), and more decided to parody their teaser image with the same theme. Some used it as a chance to promote their upcoming DLC and releases, while other users used it to poke fun at other games’ delays and non-existent releases like Destiny's The Final Shape expansion and Banjo Kazooie's remake respectively. It goes to show how gigantic GTA really is as a franchise. The world tunes in to any news that comes to it.
