Genshin Impact is cooking up something sweet! The popular gacha game has teased an upcoming collaboration with McDonald's, featuring exclusive in-game rewards and limited edition products for both players and customers.
The collaboration will kick-off this September 17 and conclude on September 29. A highlight of the partnership is the release of the exclusive "Genshin Impact Apple Pie"—an apple pie featuring custom packaging adorned with two characters from the game: Kaedahara Kazuha and Beidou.
Fans who purchase the Apple Pie through the McDonald's app will receive in-game rewards of 40 Primogems, three exclusive Golden Apple Pastries, and a recipe for the said item.
In addition to this, the collaboration will introduce the "Genshin Impact Deluxe McCrispy Meal." This special meal includes a Deluxe McCrispy, fries, the aforementioned Apple Pie, and a drink.
To further entice fans, Genshin Impact has teased in-game rewards for those who purchase the said meal. It will come with a code that unlocks the exclusive "Celebration: Crispy and Sweet" Namecard and the coveted "Wings of Delicacies" Wind Glider, only previously available on other region-specific collaboration events.
As with previous collaborations, the Genshin Impact x McDonald's event is region-specific. This time, it is exclusively available in the United States and can only be accessed through the McDonald's app. While the in-game codes obtained from purchases are valid for servers outside of the United States, there has been no announcement regarding a global launch.
Genshin Impact and McDonald's Tweets That Started it All
Hints of the gacha game and McDonald's collaboration started with a playful tweet from the latter on September 8, asking fans to "text 'traveler' to +1 (707) 932-4826 to guess the next quest." Genshin Impact replied with "Ugh?" and a meme from 2021: Paimon wearing a McDonald's hat.
HoYoverse didn’t waste any time teasing the collaboration. The Genshin Impact Twitter (X) account followed up McDonald's tweet with a cryptic post of their own, featuring a random assortment of in-game items and caption "A mysterious note of unknown origin. All that’s on it are some strange symbols." Fans were initially puzzled but quickly realized the initials of these items spelled out "McDonald’s."
Soon after, McDonald’s official accounts on social media updated their profiles with Genshin-themed elements, with their Twitter bio hinting at a "new quest" unlocking this September 17th.
It seems this collaboration has been in the works for a long time. The fast-food chain even hinted at the partnership more than a year ago, when Genshin’s version 4.0 released, playfully tweeting, "wondering if fontaine has a drive-thru #Genshin" and an image of them downloading the new patch.
