Final Fantasy XIV is already feeling the summer heat months before the expansion’s release date due to the large number of pre-orders. Read on to learn more about the server issues.

FFXIV Dawntrail Pre-Orders Crash the Online Store

A Forecast of What’s to Come?

FFXIV’s highly-awaited new expansion, Dawntrail, is now available for pre-order. But the online store seems to be having difficulty keeping up with the number of pre-orders that are happening simultaneously. Players are facing almost every online store failure, from 404 errors to non-working buttons and even failed card payments.

FFXIV Director Naoki "Yoshi-P" Yoshida stated in his talk during PAX East 2024 that they were already gearing up for the foreseen server issues as one of his objectives for the launch of Dawntrail. The reason was that Endwalker faced multiple server issues during launch and had queues upward of 10,000 players trying to get in the game.

It turns out that even the Steam version wasn’t safe from the issues. According to the game’s official Twitter (X) account, they were "seeing reports of Steam purchases not granting the Dawntrail registration codes to the Steam CD keys section as intended." Thankfully, this matter has already been resolved as they were able to talk with Valve regarding the CD Keys.

Alongside this, registrants were also reporting that the pre-order codes for the Zidane minion and "Azeyma’s Earrings" were also late to arrive, fearing that they wouldn’t be delivered. The official FFXIV account has already put out a statement saying: "Rest assured, codes are being delivered sequentially, but the email may take up to several hours to arrive due to the high volume of orders."
