Hardest Boss Battles In The Game
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 just dropped its "Thank You" update, and fans think that it has added the most difficult boss battles in the whole game. Fresh off its multiple award wins at The Game Awards 2025, developer Sandfall Interactive expressed its gratitude to players with free content for Expedition 33.
The "Thank You" update (patch 1.5) was available immediately after TGA 2025, which includes a new playable area, challenging endgame content, new gear, and a plethora of quality-of-life improvements. Among these new features, the biggest highlight, according to fans, is the new location called "Verso’s Drafts."
Inspired by the childhood memories of the character Verso, this world takes on a whimsical, storybook style. Within it are new boss battles, an updated Endless Tower that features "variations of iconic bosses from the main game, designed to be even more challenging", and powerful new foes that grant new Pictos, costumes, and gear.
While many have enjoyed the free update, fans mentioned that the new Divergent Star versions of bosses, particularly Simon and Osquio, are one of the most difficult boss battles in the game. As discussed on various Reddit threads on r/expedition33, players shared their experiences with the new patch.
One user stated that the Osquio battle took them multiple tries and 1.5 hours to complete, primarily because mistiming a single gradient attack consistently resulted in their loss. "I mean overall this DLC is amazing, but this is something I honestly hate. I won’t give this more tries probably, I don’t have 8 hours to waste to get maybe 5 tries at parrying something that leads to instant death," they said.
Another Redditor noted that the update drove them insane, and even though they have beaten Simon and Osquio in Expert difficulty multiple times, their versions in the new Endless Towers are "something else." Most said that although the new content is challenging, it is still fair and beatable, but the room for mistakes is small.
Photo Mode, Quality-of-Life Improvements, and More
Aside from the new location and boss battles, Expedition 33’s latest patch also introduced Photo Mode, which comes with various settings that can be accessed at any time from the pause menu. Furthermore, players can now save up to 50 Lumina sets, giving them the flexibility to easily swap different loadouts for every situation.
Other features include the Abandon Battle option, HUD scale setting, FSR 4 Support, new filters for Pictos and Luminas, and input remapping for controllers. The developers also added new text and UI game localizations for Czech, Ukrainian, Latin American Spanish, Turkish, Vietnamese, Thai, and Indonesian, with more to come in future updates.
New Soundtrack.
For fans of the game’s soundtrack, developer Sandfall Interactive also gave a new update for the game’s music. Coming off from winning the Best Score and Music at TGA 2025, Expedition 33 released new music tracks by the award-winning composer, Lorien Testard.
The new EP titled "Verso’s Drafts" includes six new songs, with a total running time of over 19 minutes. Fans can now listen to the new soundtrack on all digital streaming platforms.
With their record-breaking 9 wins at TGA, Expedition 33 solidified itself as not only the best game of 2025, but also one of the most decorated titles in gaming history. The future is bright for Sandfall Interactive, and the developers are looking forward to creating another game soon.
