Death Stranding 2 New Cameos and More To Come!
Hololive VTuber Pekora Becomes a Prepper
Death Stranding 2 (DS2) continues to fill its star-studded cast with the addition of Hololive VTuber Usada Pekora. Kojima Productions announced on Twitter (X) on May 29 that Pekora will appear in the game as a Prepper, which is an NPC living in isolation.
Usada Pekora is a popular Japanese VTuber for Hololive Production. She is part of Hololive Japan’s 3rd generation, called "hololive fantasy." As of writing, she is the fourth most subscribed Hololive VTuber with over 2.7 million subscribers.
The announcement was accompanied by a short clip that featured Pekora greeting the player as they exited the Prepper Shelter, a bunker-like structure that houses Preppers. It remains unclear what her role is in the game as the post reads, "What kind of Prepper could she be…? Find out after the game launches!"

However, this is not the first time Kojima Productions has had an interaction with the Japanese VTuber, as Pekora once visited their studio last year. Death Stranding series creator Hideo Kojima even shared a photo with Pekora on Twitter last August, with both of them doing a thumbs-up pose beside a Ludens statue, the iconic mascot of the studio..
Pekora responded with a tweet, thanking the studio for a wonderful experience. Fans are puzzled about why this get-together happened in the first place, yet excited to see her in the game. Kojima himself is a fan of Pekora, and has posted several tweets of him in the past watching her livestreams. Regardless, given Hololive’s massive following, this is a great opportunity for Kojima Productions to bring more audience to its upcoming title.
More Celebrity Cameos to Come

It seems that DS2 will have more celebrities to appear in the game, as Kojima revealed during the latest episode of the KojiPro podcast. According to him, many people were scanned for the game, but half of them had to be turned down due to storage issues.
As translated by Genki Gamer, Kojima said that most of them were Preppers, while others were powerful characters. Many of them also recorded their voices. There are no official announcements regarding the full list of celebrities that will make a cameo, so fans will need to wait until the game comes out.

Moreover, outside of the main cast, this isn’t the first time they have had celebrities included in the game. The first Death Stranding featured numerous famous people, including talk show host and comedian Conan O’Brien as "The Wandering MC," legendary Japanese horror manga artist Junji Ito as "The Engineer," video game journalist and The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley as "The Ludens Fan," and much more.
As the game is nearing its launch, fans can expect more information and possibly more cameo reveals to come. Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is set to release on June 26, 2025 on PlayStation 5.
