Deadlock's Update Comes With New Heroes and Content
Valve Brings Street Brawl, Six Heroes, and Two New Patrons

Deadlock has launched the "Old Gods, New Blood," update, one of the game’s largest to date. It introduces new ways to play, expands the hero roster, and refreshes the game’s interface and systems.
Deadlock is a team-based action game that blends hero-based combat with strategic objectives and mechanics commonly seen in MOBA games like League of Legends or Dota 2. Players select from a roster of unique heroes and compete to defeat opposing teams while controlling map objectives and powerful base-defining bosses called Patrons. Matches combine fast-paced combat with tactical decision-making, from item builds to objective control.

The headline feature is Street Brawl, a quick 4v4 mode played in a best-of-five format. Each round lasts only a few minutes, and players begin with the same resources — no farming required.
Players build their loadouts from randomized sets of three items each round, and occasionally, Enhanced or Legendary items appear during shopping phases. It offers a fast, intense alternative to Deadlock’s longer, more strategic matches.

Deadlock’s Patrons — the powerful bosses at the heart of each base — have been overhauled. The update introduces Hidden King, a shadowy presence lurking in the cracks of the city, and ArchMother, a commanding figure who has guided the founders’ hands.
The update adds six new heroes: Silver, Rem, Graves, Apollo, Celeste, and Venator. Rather than launching all at once, two heroes will be released each week on Mondays and Thursdays at 2 PM PST, starting January 26. Players can influence the release order through a community voting system, earned simply by playing the game.
Details on individual hero abilities and roles have not yet been revealed, with full breakdowns expected closer to each release.
Deadlock Brings Revamped MVP Systems and HUD Improvements

Deadlock’s interface has received a major refresh aimed at making matches easier to follow and providing clearer feedback on player performance. Players will notice clearer damage indicators and enhanced objective health bars during combat, dynamic hero portraits that reflect in-game performance, and a redesigned scoreboard.
The update also adds visual enhancements, including updated chat visuals, animated ability indicators, and Steam game recording integration.

Supporting these changes, the new MVP system introduces post-game summaries and performance graphs, highlighting MVPs and key contributors while giving players insight into how they impacted the match.
Additional quality-of-life improvements round out the interface refresh, including new timers for objectives and mid bosses, a random hero selection button, and better visibility of players and structures, modernizing the presentation and making gameplay feel more polished and readable.
Deadlock is still in early development on PC via Steam, and access is currently limited to players receiving friend invites through the game’s playtester program. For information about the game, check out our article below!
