Cult of the Lamb just released its long-awaited “Sins of the Flesh” update, revealing plenty of new gameplay features including a new weapon, follower types, and the long-teased breeding mechanic. Read on to learn more.
Cult of the Lamb “Sins of the Flesh” Update Out Now
Praise the lamb! After months of teasing and countless community memes, Massive Monster finally released the “Sins of the Flesh” update for their hit cult-management simulator/roguelike, Cult of the Lamb.
Jokingly called the “Sex Update” by the game’s community, Sins of the Flesh adds an ungodly amount of new features to the game, including what the community considered the most glaring omission from the Lamb’s basic kit, a ranged weapon called the blunderbuss.
Tons of New Features for All Your Occult Needs
Cult of the Lamb initially received mixed reviews on launch due to its relatively small amount of content and repetitive gameplay. Massive Monster wasn’t one to back down from a challenge, however, and has been adding free major updates to the game since, with the “Sins of the Flesh” being the biggest one thus far.
The Blunderbuss is Finally Here
First teased in late December, the blunderbuss finally makes an appearance as the first and currently only ranged weapon in the lamb’s basic arsenal outside of spells. There are no official stats for the weapon yet, but the trailer depicts it as a charge-shot type weapon that deals massive damage from long range. Now who said giving the lamb a gun was a bad idea?
Absolve and Gather Sin with The Sin System
Sinners and sin have been added to Cult of the Lamb with the new Sin System. Sin can now be generated from new follower types, buildings, and rituals to be used as upgrade material for the temple. Sin can also be used to lessen the cooldown for purgatory, re-indoctrinate heretic followers, or even build unique buildings. No sins go unrewarded, it would seem.
New Buildings, Rituals, and Minigames
Speaking of upgrades and rituals, sin isn’t the only thing new for those occult staples. Five new rituals have been added to the game, four of which synergize with the aforementioned Sin System. The last one ascends max-level followers into disciples within your inner circle.
Plenty of new buildings and building upgrades have also been added, including the Drink House, a plethora of new storage, additional follower automation buildings, and the Drum Circle building, which has its own minigame to boot.
Mating and Hatching Mechanics are What It’s All About!
Well, they had to get this update’s namesake from somewhere. Sins of the Flesh’s main addition to the game are its Mating, Breeding, and follower-hatching mechanics, implemented through the new Mating tent and Hatchery buildings. Followers have a chance to enter the tent and generate an egg, which can then be placed in the hatchery for surprising results.
This only covers a portion of the new content included in this update. For a full list, you may find the complete patch notes below.
“Sinful Pack” Cosmetic DLC Also Out Now
To round things off, Cult of the Lamb also received a cosmetic DLC pack including 6 tailored outfits (available from the new Tailor building), 6 new base decorations, 5 new follower skins, 1 new player fleece, and 2 additional tailor outfits for two of the game’s previous cosmetic DLCs (Heretic and Cultist Packs).
