Pearl Abyss Locks in March 19 Release Date

Crimson Desert, developed by Pearl Abyss (the studio behind the MMORPG Black Desert), has officially gone gold and is now ready for release. In a post on the game’s official Twitter (X) account, Pearl Abyss shared a photo of the development team and confirmed that the game has completed production, alongside a release date of March 19, 2026.

First announced in 2019, Crimson Desert has had a long and turbulent development cycle. The game was originally targeting a 2021 release before being delayed as the project shifted away from its initial MMO roots into a single-player, story-driven action RPG. More recently, the game was pushed out of its late 2025 release window in August 2025, with Pearl Abyss citing extended development timelines and production needs.

Crimson Desert Promises Epic Battles in a Vast Open World

Crimson Desert places players in the boots of Kliff, a Greymane mercenary tasked with finding his scattered comrades following an attack by the Black Bears. The game runs on Pearl Abyss’ BlackSpace Engine, an upgraded version of the Black Desert engine, which is already known for its highly detailed environments and character models.

The game is positioned as a large-scale open-world action RPG, featuring real-time melee combat, massive battles, dynamic weather systems, and physics-driven traversal mechanics such as climbing, gliding, and environmental interactions.

Pearl Abyss has also claimed that Crimson Desert’s open world will be at least twice the size of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and larger than Red Dead Redemption 2’s map, making it one of the largest fantasy RPG environments to date.

Crimson Desert will be releasing on March 19 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. For more information about the game, check out our article below!
