Civilization 7 Development Updates
Most Requested Feature Coming To Life

Civilization 7 developer Firaxis Games revealed that they are currently working on the most requested feature from fans: the ability to play one civ throughout history. In the latest update check-in by the developers on October 27, 2025, they shared upcoming updates that will be implemented in the game.
According to Creative Director Ed Beach, the team is currently playtesting ways to allow players to choose a civ on any Age and manage it continuously. To ensure that they will deliver what fans want for this feature, Firaxis will be starting a new initiative called the "Firaxis Feature Workshop."

The primary objective for this initiative is for Firaxis to obtain critical feedback directly from the community. A small number of fans will be invited to participate and test out features that are currently in development, and tell the developers "what’s working, what’s not, and what’s missing."
Additional details regarding the workshop will be shared on the game’s Discord server. Beach also noted that as the holiday approaches, updates will be less frequent as the team will shift its focus to testing these upcoming large-scale changes.
Tides of Power Collection Free on November 4

Aside from the upcoming features that the development team is working on, Firaxis Games also announced the new sea-themed Content Collection called Tides of Power. This will be available for free, and players can claim this collection on November 4, 2025, until January 5, 2026.
The Tides of Power collection will be delivered in two parts. The first part arrives on November 4 with the update, introducing the new leader, Edward Teach, and two civilizations: Tonga and the Republic of Pirates. The second part will be released in December, adding the leader Sayyida al Hurra, and the Ottomans and Iceland civilizations.

Furthermore, update 1.3.0 will introduce new changes to the game’s naval warfare. This includes The Harbor - a new water-based warehouse building, The Privateer - a new Light Naval Unit and "ultimate naval raider," rework on naval combat, new resources and terrain, and so much more.
These changes will roll out the week of November 3rd. Moreover, Firaxis Games encouraged fans to provide their opinions and feedback for continued game improvement.
