Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 News

2025

November 28

⚫︎ Call of Duty: Warzone will be adopting an open matchmaking system, mirroring the change recently made in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. This significant update, which minimizes the consideration of player skill (SBMM) in favor of prioritizing connection and ping, is scheduled to arrive with Warzone's Season 1 update on Thursday, December 4.

November 26

⚫︎ A new update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 introduces a disconnect protection feature for the high-risk, high-reward Endgame campaign mode. This fix prevents players from losing all their character's progress due to random disconnects or crashes by snapshotting their Combat Rating at the start of a match.

November 25

⚫︎ Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Warzone Season 1 BlackCell DLC introduces the exclusive operator Scorn and launches on December 4. This bundle includes immediate access to the BlackCell Battle Pass track, 1,100 COD Points, several exclusive cosmetics, and bonus daily challenges.

November 21

⚫︎ Treyarch is detaching Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's popular Endgame mode from the game's panned campaign to increase player access. Players who completed the campaign before the Friday deadline were awarded in-game bonuses as compensation.

November 18

⚫︎ Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is the franchise's worst-performing Steam launch, failing to hit 100,000 concurrent players in its opening weekend due to competition and mixed reception. Criticism is aimed at design issues, such as the inability to pause the campaign, and fan disappointment over the use of AI-generated art for Calling Cards.

November 11

⚫︎ Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 can now be pre-loaded. Activision also revealed its release times on PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam.

November 6

⚫︎ Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 revealed its multiplayer maps and modes ahead of the game's release. There will be 18 multipayer maps at launch, with Nuketown 2025 coming before Season 1.

November 5

⚫︎ Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 developer Activision confirmed that there will be sub-frame mouse polling on PC. This feature allows players to have more precise readings of mouse inputs, which makes aiming feel more consistent.

October 22

⚫︎ Following extensive beta feedback, the developers at Treyarch are adjusting the Dexterity perk in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. They've made it so the perk is no longer mandatory for players who want to aim down sights while in motion.

October 9

⚫︎ CoD Black Ops 7 will have persistent lobbies, leaving behind SBMM (skill-based matchmaking). This system of matchmaking was highly controversial within the community as it pushed players to have intense matches over and over again as they are matched with others on the same skill level.

October 8

⚫︎ Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will not have wall-running as the tech is not available lore-wise on the era where the game will take place.Activision noted that at this point, soldiers in the game can only do wall-jumps.

⚫︎ Arc Raiders have responded to the game's title being censored in CoD Black Ops 7's chat. Meanwhile, Activision noted that this was unintentional and will fix the issue immediately.

October 7

⚫︎ Activision claimed that 97% of cheaters on Call of Duty: Blacks Ops 7's open beta were banned within 30 minutes. They also noted that only 1% of cheating attempts were able to reach a match, but were also removed immediately.

⚫︎ Players found out that they cannot type 'Arc Raiders' in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's chat, but they can talk about Battlefield 6. Interestingly enough, the terms 'arc' and 'raiders' can be used separately.

⚫︎ Activision extends Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's open beta just before Battlefield 6 releases. There will be three additional days for players to experience Black Ops 7's open beta, along with the launch of a new map, Toshin.

October 2

⚫︎ Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's upcoming beta on PC will require secure boot and TPM 2.0. These are in conjuctions with Activision's Ricochet Anti-Cheat system, which aims to prevent and take down cheaters for the game's multiplayer modes.

⚫︎ Pre-loading for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 beta is now available. However, only those who have pre-ordered the game, subscribed to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, or watched Call of Duty's livestream on September 30 can pre-load the game. For those not included in the specified requirements, they will receive their codes in a later date.

A new mode called Overload will also be available, where squads battle over one device that must be placed in enemy territory to receive a score.

September 17

⚫︎ Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's Zombies trailer revealed some of the characters and narrative that players will experience in the mode. The trailer features returning characters from Black Ops 6's Zombies mode, along with new people.

September 12

⚫︎ Treyarch Studios Design Director revealed on Twitter (X) that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's time-to-kill is close to what it is from Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. He noted that they are working on establishing the perfect TTK so that players will neither die too early or slow, and to have room for a wide variety of weapons to be effective.

September 11

⚫︎ Activision and Treyarch Studios have announced that some skins and weapon blueprints from Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will carry forward into the upcoming Black Ops 7. This reverses a previous decision to completely scrap the feature, which had been a controversial topic among fans. Initially, it was stated that only Double XP tokens and Gobblegums would transfer to the new game. The change was made in an effort to appease players.

September 10

⚫︎ Treyarch released a new video on their Twitter (X) that focuses on Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's multiplayer maps. The Dev Talk video provided additional information about the game, which includes Treyarch's 3-lane design, map pacing, sizing and color, face-off and gunfight modes, post-launch support, and more.

August 19

⚫︎ Activision has confirmed that cosmetics from Black Ops 6 will not carry over into Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, addressing widespread player concerns following the game’s reveal. While forward compatibility has often been viewed as a positive feature, many fans criticized the prospect of last year’s crossover-heavy skins clashing with the new title’s near-future aesthetic.

Acknowledging the feedback, Activision stated, “Some of you have said we’ve drifted from what made Call of Duty unique in the first place. That feedback hits home.”

August 19

⚫︎ During Gamescom Opening Night Live, Activision unveiled a new trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, showcasing fresh maps, high-intensity gameplay, and massive robotic foes. The latest entry in the long-running franchise is now confirmed to release on November 14.

August 12

⚫︎ A new rumor suggests that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 could drop the Tactical Sprint feature. According to well-known Call of Duty leaker TheGhostOfHope, developer Treyarch has recently begun testing a build of the game without Tac-Sprint.

While this has sparked interest among players who dislike the mechanic, it’s unclear whether the removal is permanent. Treyarch may simply be experimenting with different aspects of the multiplayer experience rather than planning to cut the feature from the final release.

August 8

⚫︎ Activision has announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will implement TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot as part of its ongoing anti-cheat measures. In an update posted on August 6, Team Ricochet, the franchise’s dedicated anti-cheat team, outlined how these requirements will strengthen security in upcoming titles.

May 30

⚫︎ Activision has confirmed that this year’s Call of Duty entry will be Black Ops 7, marking the first back-to-back release within the Black Ops sub-series. Set in 2035, forty years after the events of Black Ops 6, the game sees the return of David Mason from Black Ops 2. This time, Mason and his team face a new threat—an enemy that turns fear itself into a weapon.
