Borderlands 4 Prices Set at $70 Instead of the $80 Previously Speculated

Borderlands 4 pre-orders reveal a $70 price point, dispelling the $80 rumor. Read on to learn more about the game’s pricing controversy and its different editions at launch.

Priced at $70, Not $80

Borderlands 4 Pre-Orders Are Now Live!

Developer Gearbox Software finally unveiled the price point of Borderlands 4 as pre-orders went live. In a Twitter (X) post on June 16, the official account of Borderlands announced that Borderlands 4 is now available for pre-orders on all platforms.

This post confirmed that the game’s standard edition will cost $70, while the Deluxe edition and Super Deluxe edition will be priced at $100 and $130, respectively. This puts an end to fans’ speculation that Borderlands 4 will cost $80.

This was a huge topic a couple of weeks ago, as Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford was coy when asked about the price range of the game. He responded to a tweet on May 14 and said that "real fans" will find a way to cope with the speculated $80 price point, which infuriated a lot of players.

This went on for quite some time, with Pitchford ultimately saying that he has no idea what the actual price of the game will be. He then made a lengthy tweet on May 29 to clarify his previous comments and to put an end to the whole debacle.

Pitchford wrote, "I am sorry there was a misunderstanding. The absolute sincere truth is that I don’t want anyone to pay any more than they should or are comfortable with and I always work with the intent and hope that a customer always feels they got the better end of the deal no matter what they pay."

Despite his statement, fans still feel iffy about his original comment about "real fans," which made them rethink buying the game. Regardless, the pre-orders going live put players at ease as the game will not cost as high as they thought it would.

Borderlands 4 Different Editions

Image

Borderlands 4 will have three different editions at launch, namely, the Standard edition, the Deluxe edition, and the Super Deluxe edition. Pre-ordering either of these versions will reward the players with the Glided Glory Pack, which includes the following:

 ● 1 Vault Hunter Skin
 ● 1 Weapon Skin
 ● 1 ECHO-4 Drone Skin

On the other hand, the Deluxe edition will have the Bounty Pack bundle that contains a variety of in-game items, new areas to explore, additional missions and bosses, and much more.

 ● Firehawk's Fury Weapon Skin
 ● Bounty Pack Bundle:
  ● 4 unique areas, featuring new missions and unique bosses
  ● 4 Vault Cards with unique challenges and rewards
  ● New gear and weapons
  ● New Vault Hunter cosmetics
  ● 4 New vehicles with new cosmetics

For even more content, the Super Deluxe edition provides two more packs on top of the Deluxe edition, with the Ornate Order pack and the Vault Hunter pack, which expand the game further.

 ● Ornate Order Pack:
  ● 4 Vault Hunter Skins
  ● 4 Vault Hunter Heads
  ● 4 Vault Hunter Bodies
 ● Vault Hunter Pack:
  ● 2 new playable Vault Hunters
  ● 2 new Story Packs, featuring all new story and side missions
  ● 2 new map regions
  ● New gear and weapons
  ● New Vault Hunter cosmetics
  ● New ECHO-4 cosmetics

Furthermore, GameStop is offering the exclusive ECHO-4 Bundle for $150, which includes a 20cm ECHO-4 Statue, 5 in-game Golden Keys, and other physical items. Unfortunately, this bundle does not include the base game.

 ● ECHO-4 Statue
 ● Map of Kairos
 ● SHiFT Code for 5 Golden Keys in Borderlands 4
 ● Vault Symbol Necklace
 ● Set of 4 Double-Sided Lithograph Art Prints

Despite the price reveal, fans wondered whether it was adjusted due to Pitchford’s comments. However, Borderlands 4 publisher 2K Games has announced that Mafia: The Old Country will be priced at $50, which could indicate that the $70 pricing of the looter shooter sequel is what it is.

Borderlands 4 is set to be released on September 12, 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. To stay up to date with the latest information about the game, check out our article below!
