⚫︎ Nintendo has added a new batch of free Animal Crossing icons for Nintendo Switch Online members. The update includes three new profile icons: Timmy and Tommy together, plus individual icons for Orville and Wilbur from Dodo Airlines. The icons are available in the Nintendo Switch Online’s membership page on the home screen and then navigating to "Missions and Rewards".

⚫︎ Animal Crossing: New Horizons gets a Switch 2 Edition and a free major update in January 15, 2026. The trailer showcased the upcoming features, such as enhanced visuals and a ton of new content like hotel room designing, a terrain-customizable island, crossover items and Villagers from The Legend of Zelda and Splatoon series, and more.

⚫︎ Nintendo has partnered with Crocs for an Animal Crossing New Horizons-themed rubber footwear. This will release on August 26, 2025, along with the Animal Crossing Platform Clog ($69.99) for adults and Classic Clog for children ($54.99). The shoes are available in the US via Crocs’ official online store.
Along with this release are individual attachable charms, which feature Rosie, Marshal, and Bunnie ($4.99 each).

⚫︎ Former Nintendo marketing lead Kit Ellis says that it might be too early to expect a sequel to Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the Switch 2. Ellis explains that the first few years after a new console launch would typically focus on "hardcore players". He further states that early adopters of Switch 2 are less likely to be casual players, which is the primary audience of the Animal Crossing series. Ellis also acknowledges that it is also possible for the contrary to happen as Nintendo is in an era where it "can do anything".

⚫︎ Animal Crossing: New Horizons received two new patches on May 27, 2025, and June 18, 2025, three years after Nintendo stopped supporting the game with additional content like the paid Happy Home Paradise expansion. There is no official confirmation for new content updates in the future.

⚫︎ The Animal Crossing: New Horizons clarifies that the system transfer process to the Switch 2 will remove the source Switch system’s access to the island data when the data transfer finishes. It was also mentioned that sufficient storage space on the Switch 2 is required. Other transfer methods are also available, such as through the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Island Transfer app or utilizing the Nintendo Switch Online’s Cloud Save data feature..

The guide includes tips, explainers, and diagrams, spread across 688 designed pages. The Collector’s Edition guide garnered mixed reactions, with some feeling that it was two years too late to be useful for the game it was based on while others buying it for collection purposes are still happy to receive it..
