ANANTA will not have gacha mechanics for its characters in the game. Read on to learn more about the latest information regarding its gameplay and what fans can expect with its upcoming appearance at Tokyo Game Show 2025.
Ananta Gameplay Updates and Upcoming Events
Will Not Have Character Gacha
ANANTA, the highly anticipated anime game, will not have gacha mechanics for its characters. As reported on September 23 by Japanese video game magazine Famitsu, players will be able to obtain all characters from the game for free.
They noted that Ananta’s monetization will come from customization elements, such as clothing, vehicles, and other cosmetics. It is currently unclear how the game's gacha mechanics for these other features will work.
More information will be provided in Famitsu’s upcoming weekly issue, where they had an exclusive interview with the game’s developers and discussed details about ANANTA.

Meanwhile, fans on Reddit, under r/gachagaming, shared their thoughts on the latest trend of previously announced or speculated gacha games ditching the system. With Duet Night Abyss (DNA) also removing its gacha mechanics, people jokingly stated that DNA and ANANTA shouldn’t even be discussed there anymore, and a new thread should be added for these new types of non-gacha anime games.
While many are glad to see companies trying to break out of the gacha mold, some are worried about whether these games will succeed. However, other fans were confident that this new model could be implemented well because the game's publisher, NetEase, has a good reputation for free-to-play titles, including Marvel Rivals and Destiny: Rising.
New Gameplay Trailer
Nine months after its announcement trailer, ANANTA has released its latest teaser, focusing on its gameplay. On September 23, developer Naked Rain, which is a subsidiary of publisher NetEase Games, revealed new footage of the upcoming urban open-world action RPG.
The 7-minute video showcased the unique and vast environment of Nova City, highlighting the endless possibilities with its combat and exploration. Players take on the role of a new captain of a special task force that is tasked with forming a team to build the reputation of their department.
They can also play as the different charming and eccentric members, carrying out missions as a "department head, a well-to-do elite, and a hacker." The video description concluded, "In this world jam-packed with off-kilter characters, everyone has their own way of getting by. As for you, you have a secret weapon: Social media. You wanna achieve your goals? Then first you'll have to become an internet sensation and save the world!"

Fans at the video’s comment section on YouTube gushed over ANANTA’s gameplay and presentation. One commenter stated that it is a combination of various popular open-world titles, including Grand Theft Auto, Cyberpunk 2077, Watch Dogs, Genshin Impact, and more.
Others were glad that the game still exists since it had been almost a year since they had last heard from its developers. Overall, ANANTA continues where it left off last year, exciting the community further with its wide array of features and mechanics.
Will Be Playable at Tokyo Game Show 2025
Last week, the developers announced that ANANTA will be playable at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show (TGA) 2025 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan. In a post on ANANTA’s Japanese Twitter (X) account on September 16, they unveiled details regarding the game’s booth at TGS 2025.
Based on the information they provided, ANANTA will be playable at the event and will feature two game modes: story and exploration. For Story mode, players will experience a car chase alongside thrilling battles. Meanwhile, the Exploration mode will allow players to explore the commercial areas and backstreets of Nova City.

ANANTA’s booth will run from September 25 to 28, and those who play the demo will take home a limited-edition 3D commemorative card. Additionally, exclusive ANANTA merchandise, such as a fan, bag, character acrylic keychains, and TGS limited stickers, will be available at the event.
With all the latest details and upcoming events for ANANTA, fans are getting hyped for the game. Many are expecting a launch date or a beta test to be announced soon, but Naked Rain and NetEase have yet to confirm anything.
ANANTA is being developed for PlayStation 5, PC, and mobile (iOS and Android). Its release date has not been announced yet. To stay up to date with the latest information about the game, check out our article below!
