Warhaven is a free-to-play, large-scale PVP medieval fantasy combat game, announced to launch on September 21, 2023. It will also be available for early access for PC via Steam on September 20, 2023, at 6PM PST.

In a blog post on August 23, 2023, Warhaven Team highlighted some changes that Director Eunseok Lee mentioned in his interview at IGN Gamescom Post show. These changes span from adjustments to player counts, the introduction of new game modes, a reimagined incarnation system, to the assurance that in-game products will prioritize aesthetics over competitive advantage.

Warhaven Features Improved

Player Count Adjustments

One of the most noteworthy changes on the horizon involves reducing the player count, transitioning from the current 16 vs. 16 format to a slightly more intimate 12 vs. 12 configuration. This change has been strategically implemented with several benefits in mind. The shift in player count is primarily geared toward improving the overall quality of matches.

With fewer players on each side, players can expect a more balanced and engaging gaming experience. Smaller teams naturally translate to reduced chaos and complexity on the battlefield. This streamlined approach encourages more strategic thinking and focused gameplay. The transition also improves performance for lower-end computers, ensuring smoother gameplay and broadening accessibility.

New Modes Introduced

To add diversity to the gameplay experience, the game will be introducing a new 6 vs. 6 mode. This mode has been thoughtfully designed to be smaller in scale, fostering teamwork and close cooperation among players.

A few of the previously previewed game modes such as Dominion (formerly known as Skirmish), Onslaught, and Arms Race, will be making a return. These modes will return with improved gameplay and simplified rules, making them even more fun than before.

Revamped Incarnation System

Image

The incarnation system, a system where victorious soldiers receive blessings to become an Immortal for a brief time, is poised for a significant overhaul in pursuit of fairer and more balanced competition. The previous system allowed players to incarnate multiple times per game, providing a distinct advantage. In the revamped design, each player will be limited to using incarnation once during a game. This alteration ensures that games are not one-sided due to excessive incarnations, leading to a more dynamic and equitable gameplay experience.

In-Game Products Without Competitive Advantage

The idea of maintaining a level playing field is not lost on the developers. With that in mind, the devs have made the in-game products available through the World Pass (Battle Pass) specifically not to influence the game's balance. Most rewards and purchasable items within the World Pass will be cosmetic. These items are designed to enhance the visual appeal of characters and equipment without conferring any competitive advantage.

As these changes unfold, the developers affirm their commitment to creating an environment where every player can excel based on their abilities and tactics. The gaming community can look forward to these updates, which promise to usher in a more balanced, thrilling, and enjoyable gaming adventure.
