STALKER 2 just received its largest patch yet with over 1200 changes and fixes that address almost every issue present in the game. Read on to find out the highlights and what they improve on.
STALKER 2 Patch Fixes Over 1200 Issues
Balance Fixes, Better Performance, Tweaks To Main and Side Quests, and More
Horror-themed action and immersive sim S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl (also known simply as STALKER 2) just launched Patch 1.3 for the game, promising a better gameplay experience overall. Fans can head back into the all-improved Chornobyl Exclusion Zone with the introduction of over 1200 tweaks and improvements that address various issues from gameplay improvements like combat mechanics, balance changes, and fixing main and side quests to the hundreds of bug fixes and performance upgrades for more immersion.
Developers GSC Game World dutifully detailed every single change in its full patch notes, available to be read on the game’s official website. Luckily, for gamers who want to jump straight into the action or do not have the liberty to read over lines upon lines of notes, the most important highlights are listed on the game’s Steam community page.
Highlights of the patch include combat fixes such as smoother AI pathing for mutant enemies as well as better ambush behavior, adding a bit more challenge for players as they traverse the Zone’s hostile landscape, and rebalancing of the Archiartifacts, with the most notable changes on the Weird Kettle, which will now give a corresponding debuff according to the type of food eaten and will no longer be randomized.
Several game-breaking bugs have also been patched out, like the bug that let players permanently stack the effect of unequipped artifacts, numerous glitches that prevented players from progressing with the story or the quest, and NPC issues such as missing guide NPCs or NPCs obstructing player movement.
GSC Game World is dedicated to improving upon the game continuously, following a rather rocky and buggy launch. At the end of the patch notes, they encouraged players to send in feedback to the game’s Technical Support Center whenever an "unexpected anomaly" for their colleagues to "take a closer look at it to annihilate and destroy the danger to the Zone."
Huge Patches Are Normal For STALKER 2
As large as the number may seem, 1,200 bug fixes for Patch 1.3 is nothing new to STALKER 2 and GSC Game World, as they’ve previously released huge update patches full of content. The previous patch, Patch 1.2, delivered over 1,700 fixes to the game that the Steam community page couldn’t fit them all. However, Patch 1.1 takes the cake, with a whopping 110 GB worth of patch content and 1,800 fixes.
With at least 1,000 fixes per major update, the developers and their team seem to have a lot on their plate, but the number is evidently decreasing with every new patch that comes out, signifying more improvements and fewer issues to tackle.
