Nintendo Switch Owners Worried About Their Screens

Image

Nintendo Switch owners have been worried about a widespread issue that’s happening to their consoles’ screens. After playing F-Zero 99, a ghostly outline of a race car would stay on screen as they exited the game. The glitch is not linked to the length of the play sessions, as players have reported sightings of the car’s afterimage appearing as early as 5 minutes after playing the game.

Switch owners can rest assured that this is NOT a hardware issue that will cause permanent burn-in on their screens. Players have reported that docking the Switch would duplicate the afterimage onto the connected display. The reverse is true, where when playing on a display and removing the Switch from its dock, the ghostly outline will appear on the console’s screen. This scenario immediately rules out any potential hardware issues, leading to the conclusion of this phantom phenomenon as a software glitch exclusive to F-Zero 99.

How to Fix F-Zero 99 Screen Glitch

Multiple players have suggested simple solutions to remove the apparitions, such as restarting their consoles, opening other apps, or waiting for it to slowly fade away.

Though Nintendo has yet to address the issue, they have updated F-Zero 99 with new free maps after the issues have been found. It is currently unknown whether the new content update has fixed this bug.
