Star Wars Jedi Survivor actor Cameron Monaghan surprises fans with an announcement. Learn more about this significant undertaking and the hints that support his claim.
Star Wars Jedi 3: Cameron Monaghan Hints at New Game in the Series
Revelation From Ocala Comic Con
Cameron Monaghan, better known for his role as Cal Kestis in the Star Wars Jedi trilogy, stunned audiences at the recent Ocala Comic Con in Florida. Monaghan confirmed that a third game in the series is currently in development.
The actor personally revealed the creation of the new game, rather than the typical suspects like Respawn Entertainment, Disney, or Electronic Arts.Monaghan, commented cautiously about the project when a fan asked him about the projects they are working on, indicating that it is a big undertaking
and that there have been some conversations so far.
He added that he hopes the team will produce something spectacular when all is said and done.
The Continuation of Cal Kestis' Journey
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor showed Cal Kestis, a former Jedi padawan, continuing on in his epic story. Cal begins a search for a secret haven against the backdrop of a galaxy ruled by the ruthless Galactic Empire. By incorporating different new lightsaber styles, the game expands upon the famous gameplay structure of its predecessor, Fallen Order. The third game is expected to pick up where it ended and potentially conclude his story.
Expanding into a Trilogy
While it’s important to note that there haven’t been any official announcement from the developers or publishers themselves, the claim that it’s being worked on is not without merit. Traditionally, Star Wars media has followed a trilogies pattern. The finale of Jedi: Survivor gives Cal Kestis plenty of leeway for new adventures. Director Stig Asmussen said in an interview with IGN that, if given the chance, he would expand Survivor into a trilogy.
This is consistent with EA's job posting from last July when they searched for a Principal Game Writer, Senior VFX Artist, and Audio Engineer, all marked with the label Star Wars Jedi Game.
According to the job listing, the next chapter will likely be produced with Unreal Engine 5 rather than Unreal Engine 4.
Again, neither EA nor Respawn Entertainment has made an official declaration about a new Star Wars Jedi game, but with Monaghan's comments adding onto a pile of compelling evidence, it’s highly likely that a sequel is, in fact, in the works. Fans may have to wait a few years before joining Cal on his interplanetary trip. Still, Monaghan is excited about Respawn's future Star Wars game.
