ULTRAKILL Overview
ULTRAKILL is a fast-paced, retro-inspired first-person shooter released in Early Access in 2020. Set in a post-humanity future, players control V1, a blood-fueled machine, as it descends into Hell to find blood for survival. Its core gameplay features include "aggressive healing" by absorbing enemy blood, fluid movement mechanics, and a style-based scoring system that rewards varied and flashy combat with an extensive arsenal of weapons.
The game has received overwhelmingly positive reception for its innovative mechanics, challenging gameplay, and unique blend of retro aesthetics with modern design. ULTRAKILL Gameplay
ULTRAKILL features a fast-paced, arena-style combat loop where players must swiftly eliminate enemy waves to progress, aiming for high ranks based on a style meter and completion time. The game's unique "aggressive healing" mechanic forces close-quarters combat to regain health by absorbing enemy blood.
Players utilize fluid movement abilities like dashes and wall-jumps, alongside a diverse, customizable arsenal of weapons and robotic arms for extensive combo potential. Challenges primarily involve navigating the escalating difficulty of Hell's layers, demanding strategic weapon use, environmental awareness, and mastery of advanced techniques to overcome powerful foes and demanding boss battles.
ULTRAKILL Characters
V1
The main playable character of ULTRAKILL. A machine that runs on blood as fuel, driving it to slaughter everything within Hell’s legions. Considered a silent protagonist, V1’s rampant violence is part of his survival, and he has no need to speak.
V2
V2 is V1’s rival machine, built with the same design but coated in a paint job that oozes with crimson color. This machine uses its altered agility and can mirror V1’s abilities, making its encounter the game’s first true skill check for unprepared players.
Minos Prime
Minos Prime is a major boss fight in the game’s first Prime Sanctum. He is considered the Prime Soul of King Minos, a legendary figure from Greek mythology who ruled the island of Crete.
