⚫︎ Chinese developer Pathea Games gives players an in-depth look at the new "Eastern-inspired Steampunk RPG" with their 9-minute gameplay trailer.
The God Slayer Overview
The God Slayer is an upcoming action-adventure RPG developed and published by Pathea Studios. It takes place in a steampunk-themed world ruled by divine beings known as Celestials. As Cheng, a man who can wield the five elements of Chinese philosophy and martial arts (earth, wood, fire, water, and metal), players will set out on a perilous journey to wrest the world from the grip of the Celestials. Inspired by Hong Kong martial arts films, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Spider-Man, and Sifu, The God Slayer combines fluid martial arts with the four classical elements for inventive combat.
The God Slayer was originally revealed in 2023 as part of PlayStation’s China Hero Project, an initiative dedicated to supporting aspiring Chinese developers that also funded other titles such as Lost Soul Aside and ANNO: Mutationem.
Though there is no release window for The God Slayer, it will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

The God Slayer Gameplay
The God Slayer places heavy emphasis on narrative-driven gameplay. Exploration and battles are weaved into the game’s storyline, immersing players into the game’s steampunk metropolis ruled by Celestials. As Cheng, an Elemancer, players can masterfully use a mixture of martial arts and the five classical elements (Wuxing), creating elemental reactions that can turn the tide in battle.
