The Expanse: Osiris Reborn Overview
The Expanse: Osiris Reborn (or simply Osiris Reborn) is an upcoming action-role playing game set in the same universe as the Amazon Prime TV series The Expanse. It is developed jointly by Owlcat games (Pathfinder and Warhammer 40,000 Rogue Trader) and Alcon Interactive Group. Announced on June 7, 2025, during the Future Games Show Summer Showcase, the game places players in command of a Pinkwater Security mercenary and their crew.
During the early days of the protomolecule outbreak, players take on the role of a Pinkwater Security mercenary. Stranded in the heart of a solar system in crisis, they must escape the station, assemble a crew, and navigate the escalating tensions between Earth, Mars, and Belter factions—all while confronting the existential threat of the protomolecule. Character origins (Earther, Martian, or Belter) are based entirely on the player.
Inspired by Mass Effect, Osiris Reborn features third-person, cover-based combat with squad tactics and real-time strategy elements. Players manage two front-line companions while issuing orders to a broader crew, with choices affecting loyalty, story outcomes, and even romance options.

Osiris Reborn is a third-person action RPG with squad-based combat. Players directly control a customizable captain—choosing Earther, Martian, or Belter origins—and engage in real-time battles that rely heavily on cover mechanics and grenades, complemented by a mix of weapons and special abilities. Combat typically involves two selected companions into the field, while additional squad members operate off-screen to sabotage enemy tech or draw fire.
Movement across environments pushes beyond the typical third-person shooter formula. The game introduces low-gravity and zero-G mechanics, enabled by mag-locked boots, which lets players navigate between surfaces and debris. Additionally, while most exploration and combat occur on foot, there will be ship-to-ship sequences.
Outside of combat, the game’s mechanics extend into managing the crew and ship, with the starship functioning as a mobile hub base. Players handle not only battlefield tactics but also crew dynamics.
