The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is an upcoming action-RPG set for release on June 18, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC. Developed by Square Enix's Team Asano and Claytechworks and rendered in their signature HD-2D style, it is the studio's first foray into real-time action RPGs within this art style.
The game takes place in Philabieldia, a continent overrun by monsters and beast tribes. Humanity's last sanctuary is the fortified Kingdom of Huther, protected by a magical safekeeping spell. When newly unearthed ruins appear just outside of Huther's walls, young adventurer Elliot and his fairy companion Faie set out on a quest. What begins as a straightforward investigation soon becomes an adventure spanning centuries and ancient histories.
Gameplay here happens in real-time, reminiscent of classic action RPGs such as Secret of Mana or early Ys titles. Elliot can wield seven different weapon types, including swords, bows, scythe chains, and bombs, each customizable with Magicite to alter functions or boost stats. Faie can assist in combat and fetch items. She can be controlled by AI, by the player using the right thumbstick, or by a second player in co-op mode.

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales Gameplay
The game operates as a top-down action-RPG inspired by classic titles like The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Combat here happens in real time. Players equip one of seven weapon types, each with different movesets and upgrade potential through collectible crystals. Encounters often feature multiple enemies, requiring players to observe attack patterns and respond appropriately, especially on greater difficulty settings, where poor positioning can result in substantial damage from grouped foes.
The gameplay also incorporates Elliot’s fairy companion, Faie, who has her own active abilities, such as a teleport mechanic. AI, the main player, or a second player in co-op can handle control of Faie.

Elliot
The compassionate adventurer Elliot grew up in the orphanage, never knowing who his parents were. He makes a living by granting the townsfolk's requests and sets aside part of his income for this orphanage. Whenever he's not off on adventures, he spends time caring for the younger orphans.
Faie
Invisible to all but Elliot, Faie uses her fairy magic to aid Elliot on his journey. She could not remember much about her life before meeting Elliot, but she often senses that something important is missing from her memory.
