Developed by Sucker Punch Productions and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Ghost of Yōtei is the stand-alone sequel to the 2020 action-adventure game, Ghost of Tsushima. Ghost of Yōtei was officially announced during the Sony State of Play September 2024, and was revealed to be set 300 years after the events that take place in Ghost of Tsushima. The game, like its predecessor, is an Action, Adventure title. It follows the journey of a new protagonist, Atsu, a female warrior who adopts the persona of The Ghost.

Ghost of Yōtei Gameplay
Ghost of Yōtei is an Action-Adventure game set in an semi-open world filled with quests and adventures. Players control Atsu, a wandering female warrior in Feudal Japan. In Ghost of Yōtei, players complete quests, make narrative choices that affect the game, wander through Mount Yōtei, and engage in combat using different types of weaponry. As Atsu, players can wield dual katanas.

The game has yet to receive official reviews and ratings. However, Ghost of Yōtei is a highly anticipated game among critics and players, as well as causing polarizing among fans. Over on the franchise's Reddit, players have expressed ambivalence about controlling a female warrior as it "takes away from realism." Other players have remarked that they are excited about Ghost of Yōtei and regard it as one of the only few titles they are excited about releasing for PS5.
