⚫︎ Following its release on other platforms late last year, the Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition now comes to the Nintendo Switch 2 as revealed in the February 2026 Nintendo Direct.
Fallout 4 Overview
Fallout 4 is the fifth major entry in the long-running Fallout series, first released on November 10, 2015 for Steam, Epic Games, PlayStation 4, and the Xbox One. Set in the Commonwealth, the game follows the player as the Sole Survivor of Vault 111, who has awakened from their long cryogenic sleep only to find that the world they once knew was gone, eradicated by a nuclear war.
Thrust into a whole new world with nothing but the clothes on their back, the Sole Survivor must now survive in a harsh wasteland while also trying to find out the whereabouts of their missing family.
An Anniversary Edition of the game, complete with the six DLCs and 153 pieces of Creation Club Content, was released a decade after its original release. It first came to Steam, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S in 2025, with the Nintendo Switch 2 version slated for release on February 24, 2026.

Fallout 4 Gameplay
Fallout 4’s gameplay mainly focuses on the action-RPG elements, with players free to explore the game’s vast open world, armed with customizable weapons and armor to survive against the harsh environment and hostile enemies. The series' signature V.A.T.S. system, a mechanic that slows down the real-time combat for "bullet time", returns from Fallout 3.
Aside from action-packed shooter combat, there are base-building elements as well. Players can interact with many NPCs scattered across the land, some of which can come to live in the player character’s built and restored settlements, and some of them even allying themselves with the character as a Companion.
