Escape from Tarkov is a hardcore tactical first-person shooter that blends RPG and MMO elements, set to release in 2025. It is an independent title within Battlestate Games' "Russia 2028" universe. Set in the chaotic Norvinsk region of Russia, players, as mercenaries, must survive raids, scavenge for loot, and extract from dangerous locations while facing other players and AI.
The game features extensive weapon customization, a realistic health system with detailed limb damage, a unique recoil system, and complex inventory management. Players can also undertake "Scav runs" for low-risk looting and engage in a robust in-game economy with traders and a customizable hideout.
While already popular for its intense gameplay and previous closed beta release, the developers continue to update the game, with a full 1.0 release anticipated in late 2025. A competitive spin-off, Escape from Tarkov: Arena, was fully released in December 2023 and is planned for Steam before the main game's 1.0 launch.
