⚫︎ Atari is releasing a brand new Bubsy game for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. The developers of Demon Turf, Fabraz, is developing the 3D platformer.
Bubsy 4D Overview
Bubsy 4D is the newest mainline entry in the Bubsy series, making its return in another 3D action platforming adventure that takes players to outer space. The game will be released in 2026 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG. It is a proper sequel to the 3D platformer Bubsy 3D, which was released roughly 30 years ago in 1996.
The game follows Bubsy, a wise-cracking bobcat, as he goes on an adventure that will take him across different alien planets, battle his robot sheep nemeses, and collect tons of yarn along the way. With the help of his motley crew of acquaintances, he must defeat his enemies and take back his stolen prized possession, The Golden Fleece.
Bubsy learned a new set of skills since his last outing in Bubsy 3D, being able to navigate levels by leaping, gliding, clawing up walls, and pouncing off enemies. The bobcat can also puff up into a hairball form, which can roll at high speeds. Collect yarn to purchase new outfits or blueprints hidden in levels to unlock moves and upgrades.

Bubsy 4D Gameplay
Bubsy 4D hosts a fresh set of moves that caters to both newcomers and speedrunners alike. Players will go through platforming levels as Bubsy, collecting yarn and blueprints they can use for buying outfits or expanding and upgrading their moves, respectively. At the end of every level, players must engage in a boss battle. Debuting in Bubsy 4D, a new hairball form lets the bobcat roll, bounce, and launch around at high speeds.
Players can tackle each level’s time trial so they can upload their clear times to online leaderboards to compete with other players.
