⚫︎ While fans expected DLC or a sequel to Black Myth: Wukong, CEO Feng Ji explained in a Weibo post that the team chose to “start from scratch” with new heroes, gameplay, visuals, and technology rather than expand on the existing game.
⚫︎ Game Science CEO Feng Ji has confirmed that the story of Black Myth: Wukong is not finished, despite development now shifting toward Black Myth: Zhong Kui. According to Feng, the studio is starting fresh with Zhong Kui’s tale but intends to revisit Sun Wukong in the future.
⚫︎ Gamescom 2025 closed with the reveal of Black Myth: Zhong Kui, the next entry in Game Science’s Black Myth series. Like its predecessor, the single-player action RPG draws from ancient Chinese myth and folklore, this time focusing on Zhong Kui, the legendary ghost-catching god who roams between Earth and the underworld.
Black Myth: Zhong Kui Overview
Black Myth: Zhong Kui is a sequel of sorts to developer and publisher Game Science’s hit action adventure, Black Myth Wukong. This new tale follows Zhong Kui, another prominent figure in Chinese Mythology, who will introduce new game experiences and create a fresh take on the series.
The game is still in early development with no release window specified. Black Myth: Zhong Kui is set to launch on PC and other mainstream platforms yet to be confirmed.
