God Of War, Horizon Zero Dawn TV Adaptations In The Works
Will Receive The Same Treatment As HBO's Last Of Us
Sony has announced that the TV adaptations of God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn will receive the same treatment as HBO's upcoming TV adaptation of The Last of Us.
During a recent episode of the Official PlayStation Podcast with Asad Qizilbash, the idea of adapting video games into TV and film was discussed to increase awareness about the video game and take advantage of the knowledge of TV and film experts.
To ensure a successful adaptation, finding a passionate production crew and fans of the franchise is essential. This will allow for flexibility in the series while remaining true to the original game plot.
Films and TV Series From PlayStation Production
In 2019, Sony established PlayStation Production to focus on adapting its video game franchises into films and TV shows.
One example of a movie produced by PlayStation Production is Uncharted, an action-adventure video game by Naughty Dog released in theaters in February 2022. HBO's The Last of Us also became a big hit during the first quarter of 2023.
Future Projects From PlayStation Production
PlayStation Production is not stopping to give the fans the film and tv adaptation they need. Based on the podcast, 10 projects are happening with diverse stories. Some would be from an older franchise that has a significant following.
It was mentioned that Horizon Zero Dawn will be produced in partnership with Netflix and God of War in partnership with Amazon. Twisted Metal and Gran Turismo were set to be released this year. There are also talks about John Wick director, Chad Stahelski to direct a Ghost of Tsukishima film adaptation.
