Ys X: Proud Nordics Gameplay
Ys X: Proud Nordics continues the series’ iconic action RPG gameplay experience with the introduction of the "Cross Action System", where the players can seamlessly swap between two modes: Solo and Duo. In Solo Mode, players can switch between Adol and Karja and use their unique skills, while the other will support them as an NPC battle teammate.
Duo Mode pairs Adol and Karja as one unit in a semi-turn-based style. This lets players use a different set of skills when they’re together. Duo Skills, as they are called, can be further strengthened via mastery and the Revenge Gauge.
In Ys X: Proud Nordics, a new dungeon called Muspelheim will be available to players looking for a challenge. This dungeon will have a time limit, various traps, and incredibly powerful opponents.
Ys X: Proud Nordics Story Plot
Series protagonist Adol Christin, an adventuring swordsman, sets sail for Celceta after the events of Ys I and II. However, his plans are put to a halt as he is (once again) shipwrecked and finds himself in the northern islands of Obelia Gulf.
Here, he encounters the "Normans,", power warrior seafarers, and the "Griegers,", undead monsters plaguing Obelia Bay’s inhabitants. He meets and allies with the Norman pirate, Karja Batla, to vanquish the Griegers and save Obelia Bay.
In Ys X: Proud Nordics, players can now explore the gulf’s largest landmass: Öland Island. Here, Adol and Karja meet Canute and Astrid, a duo from the Kingdom of Danmerk who have a mutual non-aggression pact with the Balta Seaforce.
It seems both Canute and Astrid aren’t supposed to be here as per the agreement. The developers hint would lead to uncovering the origins of the islands’ people and the holy power they call Mana.
