Everything We Know About Towerborne

Towerborne Story Plot

Image

Towerborne tells the story of The Belfry, a powerful bastion of safety amidst the ruins of humanity and The City of Numbers. As monsters lurk just beyond The Belfry’s walls, powerful spirit-borne heroes known as Aces rise to defend humanity. These Aces wield other spirits and ancient relics as weapons, hunting monsters in packs and striking down any threats to humanity’s last hope for rebuilding civilization. Only time will tell if the Aces will be enough.

Towerborne Gameplay

Not much has been revealed about Towerborne’s unique gameplay mechanics, but a 7-minute gameplay clip shown at Gamescom 2023 confirmed that it is not a turn-based RPG. Instead, Towerborne is a 2.5D sidescrolling beat-em-up, where each Ace can target enemies in real-time, similar to arcade-style games like Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game.

The game’s official website also disclosed that Towerborne will feature minor roguelike elements. Each Ace is expected to return to The Belfry by nightfall to regain resources, secure artifacts, reforge gear, and plan their next excursion. Additionally, there will be a detailed character creator for those who want to customize their Ace's appearance.

Combat-specific mechanics are yet to be elaborated on, although a small selection of playable weapons have been revealed, including warclubs, gauntlets, dual-swords, and Sword & Shield.
