Trails Through Daybreak 2 Gameplay
Trails Through Daybreak II builds on the seamless transition between the Field Battle and Command Battle mechanics introduced in the first game, alongside two new mechanics applicable to both scenarios.
Cross Charge
Cross Charges can be triggered by Perfect Dodging an enemy attack, as denoted by a special icon that will flash on the screen. Pressing the correct button while the Cross Charge icon is on the screen will swap in another party member, who will simultaneously perform a powerful charge attack. The swapped-in party member will also gain enhanced attack power for some time after the Cross Charge.
EX Chains
EX Chains can be activated by fulfilling certain conditions during a Command Battle. Once these conditions are met, using craft or a normal attack against a stunned enemy will automatically activate an EX Chain. This allows party members with SCLM activated to launch a simultaneous attack that will also impact nearby enemies, dealing massive damage.
Chapter Select
Van and his allies won’t always be together as the story progresses in Trails Through Daybreak II as the party may split to fulfill various missions around Calvard concurrently. Because of this, each act is split into various chapters with select characters that you play in a specific order. Although these chapters limit what characters are available, you can choose which chapter you want to play first and tackle the story in any order you wish.
Unique Missions
Certain chapters will utilize the unique skillsets of characters included in that chapter’s party. For example, directly controlling the holo core AI, Mare, to hack the orbal network, or using Swin to silently tail a suspicious individual.
Trails Through Daybreak 2 Story
Set in the year 1209 in the Septian Calendar, Trails through Daybreak II’s story picks up years after the threat of Almata has passed. An era of peace has finally reigned on Calvard. And, for a time, that peace goes uninterrupted—until an unknown assailant slaughters a CID special forces unit.
This prompts various factions to spring into action and investigate this astonishing occurrence, including a spriggan by the name of Van Arkride—a crimson beast's roar. A chance meeting with a boy and girl, both embroiled in a mysterious search. These circumstances lure Arkride Solutions down the trail of an inescapable fate.
