inZOI Will No Longer Have Denuvo DRM

inZOI developer confirmed that they would be removing Denuvo DRM from the game. During the past 24 hours, several reports have emerged that inZOI’s Creative Studio mode demo included the anti-tamper software. The inclusion of Denuvo in games has been a controversial topic for a long time, with multiple sources stating that it affects game performance.

This DRM and anti-tamper technology is designed to prevent unauthorized copying and distribution of PC games, making it difficult for people to pirate and release cracked game versions.

In a recent Steam blog post on March 26, inZOI Director Hyungjun ‘Kjun’ Kim addressed these concerns and stated that the Early Access build, set to release on Friday, will not have DRM technology. "We initially chose to implement Denuvo as a way to protect the game from illegal distribution. At the time, we believed this would help ensure fairness for players who had properly purchased the game. However, after taking a closer look at community feedback, we quickly realized that this approach did not align with what our players wanted." Kjun said.

He also apologized for not informing players that Denuvo would be included in the Creative Studio mode. Kjun stated that although removing DRM would increase the game being cracked and distributed illegally, it would make inZOI freely configurable, giving players more chances to customize and create their own experiences. He said, "We believe enabling this freedom from the very beginning will lead to innovative and long-lasting enjoyment for the community."

inZOI Being A Highly Moddable Game

inZOI has highlighted the importance of modding for their game, which is why the addition of Denuvo baffled players, as it makes it difficult for players to add mods and other customizations.

Kjun emphasized, "As I mentioned during the Online Showcase, we are committed to making inZOI a highly moddable game. Our first stage of official mod support will launch in May, allowing players to use tools like Maya and Blender to create custom content. But this is only the beginning. Over time, we plan to expand mod support across more areas of the game, so you can customize and enhance your experience in many different ways."

He announced that there would be a separate post for more information regarding modding. Krafton continues to prioritize players first, listening to community feedback and making proper adjustments to ensure a quality experience.

inZOI is set to be released in Early Access on March 28, 2025, on PC. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC for its full launch. As of writing, the release date for its full release is still unknown.
