The Alters is a sci-fi third-person base-building game created by the award-winning 11 bit studios, who made Frostpunk and This War of Mine. Read on to learn how it plays, what it's about, and everything else we know so far.
The Alters Gameplay
The Alters is a single-player survival base-building game where you collect resources to survive from the deadly rays of the sun and the inhospitable conditions of the planet you’re stranded on. Seeing as no man is an island, you will need the help of the Alters, alternate versions of yourself, to get out of this burning predicament and constantly improve your mobile base.
You will also need to create relationships with these alternate versions, as they will each have their own parameters, backstories, and even appearances. Moreover, actions have consequences in this game, as you will need to make decisions and choices based on the alternate versions of Jan. It will be up to you to decide how to resolve these problems, no matter how big or small they may be.
The Alters Story
The Alters follows the story of Jan Dolski, a simple worker who ends up crash-landing on a distant planet with no way back. Stranded and alone, Jan’s only hope is to build himself a mobile shelter against the deadly rays of the sun. To build this shelter, he has to ask for help from an unlikely ally – himself.
Using the local substance known as Rapidium, Jan creates alternate versions of himself dubbed as "THE ALTERS" which have different personalities and backgrounds based on specific changes that were made in their lives. To return home, Jan has to literally face the consequences of his past via his other selves, and get along with them as well.
