Battles

Battles take place on a 3x5 grid viewed from behind the player character. During this, movement is limited to three panels on the player's side of the grid, so players can only move from left and right while enemies occupy the larger area in front. attacks from opponents must be dodged or blocked with a Battle Card, and damage reduces HP; when it reaches zero, the battle is lost. Players can, however, attack continuously with an arm cannon, also know as the Mega Buster. This can be fired rapidly or charged for a stronger shot.

These fights revolve around Battle Cards, which function as abilities drawn from a customizable deck called a Folder. Cards are obtained through exploring ithe game's many areas, defeating enemies, and other activities, and players assemble them before entering combat.

During a fight, a meter known as the Custom Gauge gradually fills; when it reaches its limit, the action pauses and a random set of cards from the Folder appears. Players select the cards they'll hold during that round and then return to real-time combat to execute those attacks.

Each card corresponds to a specific action. This can range from projectiles and melee attacks to elemental abilities and defensive effects. There is a system that supports card combinations and higher-tier attacks, with rarer Mega-class and Giga-class cards giving more fire power but stricter limits on how many can be included in a Folder.

Some cards can interact with elemental properties or environmental effects. For example, Fire beats Wood, Wood beats Elec, Elec beats Aqua, and Aqua beats Fire. Landing an attack with an elemental advantage deals exactly double the card's base damage. This same effect applies if a player uses an elemental attack against an enemy standing on a panel weak to that specific element.

Exploration

Outside of combat, the game is viewed from an isometric perspective as players move through locations. In these areas, players can speak with non-player characters, gather information, trigger events, and locate optional side quests.

Geo Stelar has the ability to reveal electromagnetic wave pathways using the Visualizer, his pair of glasses. When activated, this exposes Wave Roads that run through the environment and connect various devices and networks. These routes run in parallel over the physical world and allows players to enter electronic objects such as computers. They function similarly to small dungeons that often contain collectible items and enemies.

Players typically move back and forth between these two layers of the environment to uncover clues or unlock access to a device that will have to be resolves within the Wave World.

Online Multiplayer

Image

The Star Force Legacy Collection adds modern online functions that expands on the competitive multiplayer systems originally designed for local wireless play. Online, players can go head-to-head against other players around the world using the same grid-based combat found in the single-player experience. Here, both players bring a customized Folder of Battle Cards into combat and compete in real time.

The game supports several matchmaking modes. Casual matches allowp layers to fight without rankings or stakes. Ranked matches, on the other hand, track performance through a point system that increases or decreases based on victories and defeats. As players gain rank points, they are paired with stronger opponents. A separate friend match option allows players to directly invite specific opponents.

Players can also trade Battle Cards with one another. This works alongside the game's social framework, wher eplayers can register one another in an expanded Brother's Band System. In the collection, this list can hold up to 100 connections per title, far more than the six allowed in the original releases.

Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection Story Plot

Image

The game compiles the story arcs of the Mega Man Star Force trilogy, which follows the life of Geo Stelar in a future where daily life is connected through electromagnetic waves that form an invisible layer around the planet.

The story begins with Geo living in isolation after the disappearance of his astronaut father, Kelvin Stelar, during a space incident years earlier. His life changes when he encounters Omega-Xis, a fugitive alien from the planet FM who arrives on Earth while fleeing his own kind. The two form a partnership that allows them to merge into Mega Man. Through this, Geo becomes involved in a conflict against hostile FM-ians who attempt to manipulate humans and invade Earth.
