Digimon Alysion Gameplay

Digimon Alysion is the mobile adaptation of the physical Digimon Card Game. As such, it draws heavily from its mechanics. Each player starts with a deck of 50 cards, which can include Digimon cards, Tamer cards, and Option cards. The ultimate goal here is to defeat your opponent by either reducing their Security Stack (a pile of face-down cards that represents a player’s defense).

A game progresses through turns, each consisting of several phases. During their turn, a player first unsuspends their Digimon, then draws a card. Following the draw, players can enter the Breeding Phase to hatch a Digi-Egg Digimon if they have one available. The main phase allows players to play Digimon, Tamer, or Option cards from their hand by paying their memory cost, which moves the shared memory counter towards their opponent. This can involve playing digimon onto the field to attack or evolve into stronger forms by stacking cards on top of each other.

This memory gauge is central to the game’s dynamics. A player’s turn continues until the memory counter crosses over to the opponent’s side, at which point the opponent’s turn begins with the memory set at the overage amount.

While Digimon Alysium is expected to incorporate these core mechanics, it also aims to introduce unique features, such as an in-depth story mode and the ability to raise virtual Tamagotchi-like pets.

Digimon Alysion Story

Bandai has revealed that Digimon Alysion includes a story mode set within the same narrative world as the web‑published Digimon Liberator comic‑novel, but the game follows Kanata Hondo and her partner Digimon, Gabumon and Agumon. Alongside them are Futre, partnered with Gemmon, and Valner Dragnogh, partnered with Renamon.

Kanata is invited by her online friend Futre to experience the VR card game Digimon Liberator, accessed through full-dive headsets in the metaverse space Lacuna. Initially unfamiliar with Digimon cards, Kanata explores the world in her virtual avatar and begins to form a bond with new Digimon and other players.
