Code Vein 2 is set in a future world where the Revenants have turned into mindless Horrors, and it's up to the protagonist to save the world. Read on to learn how it plays, what it's about, and everything else we know so far.
Code Vein 2 Gameplay
Code Vein 2 features adrenaline-fueled battles, challenging players to accurately read their enemies' moves to counter them with precise attacks and skills. Adapting on the fly is key to survival, and mastering this art will let one conquer all the foes that dare stand in their way.
Players will also have access to seven weapons, including the rune blade—a new weapon type in Code Vein 2 that features two floating swords that unleash stylish attacks while synergizing well with long-range attacks.
Formae and Ichor
Formae are special skills the player can use in battle, divided into three categories: Defensive, Weapon, and Bequeathed Formae. Defensive Formae is focused on guarding or evasive skills, while Weapon Formae centers around damaging skills or support skills that enhance attacks. Finally, Bequeathed Formae allows the player to summon weapons to unleash devastating attacks.
Formae consumes a resource called Ichor, which can be gained through the Drain Attack System. When players deal damage to enemies with basic weapon attacks, enemies become wounded and grant Ichor.
Partners, Summoning, and Assimilation
Players will not fight this war alone, as they will meet several Partners throughout their journey who can be recruited as allies. Summoned Partners fight alongside the player and can revive them if their HP drops to zero. However, reviving has a significant cooldown, during which Partners are unable to assist in combat.
Assimilation, on the other hand, merges your Partner with you, boosting your stats and combat capabilities. Each Partner possesses a unique skill set and their own story to tell. By forming Bonds, players can strengthen these connections, which may also be reflected in battle.
Code Vein 2 Story Plot
In a future society where Revenants and humans live side by side, Revenants have transformed into mindless abominations known as Horrors, caused by the arrival of the Luna Rapacis.
With the help of a mysterious girl named Lou who possesses time travelling abilities, players travel to the past as Revenant hunters in order to stop the world's impending collapse.
Embark on an incredible journey, traverse a large universe, engage in intense combat with formidable foes, and discover a timeless tale.
