Marathon is releasing on the 5th of March, 2026, for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. The game was originally scheduled to be released on September 23, 2025, but was delayed due to mixed feedback during the alpha testing period.

Server Slam Open Preview Weekend Start February 26, 2026
Marathon will be having a Server Slam Open Preview Weekend, starting February 26 at 10 AM PT to March 2 at 10 AM PT. Players from across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam are welcome to test the game's servers for its official release on March 5, 2026.
Those who participate in the Server Slam will get the chance to earn rewards to jump- start their journey in Tau Ceti. These rewards include the following:

Closed Alpha Test
Marathon's closed Alpha Test has concluded. The test began on April 23, at 10 a.m. PDT and ran until May 4, at 10 a.m. PDT.
Is Marathon on Xbox Game Pass?
Marathon has not been announced for Xbox Game Pass. Xbox Series X/S players will need an active Game Pass subscription to play with others online.
Is Marathon on PS Plus?
Marathon has not been announced for PS Plus, but PlayStation 5 players will need an active PS Plus subscription to play online.

Marathon developers have invited players to apply for the game's Closed Technical Test from October 22 to 28, 2025. The Closed Technical Test included three new maps, 5 new runner shells, and other improvements from the Closed Alpha.

Marathon received its first closed alpha from April 24 to May 4, 2025, which the developers have described as an "incomplete" version of the game with curated content. The Closed Alpha test included initial weapons maps, runners, and PvP combat.
