Oblivion Override Story and Plot
Oblivion Override is set in a world where humans are largely extinct, leaving only robots in their wake. As the robots slowly become self-aware, they begin to wonder about the mysteries behind the eponymous Oblivion Code - a program designed by their creators to stop the hostile evolution of AI. Certain robots called "Hackers" have ventured into the expanse of the mysterious Dulce Base to find the secret, only to disappear without a trace…
You play as Crimson, a powerful combat robot sent into Dulce Base on a mysterious mission. Armed with a vast arsenal of weapons, you'll engage in fast side-scrolling action against various killer robots that stand between you and your objective.
The game will encourage you to keep moving, keep slashing, and keep upgrading. Every time you die, it’s permadeath - but you'll get to keep all your upgrades. As long as you stay determined, you’ll eventually get to the very end of Dulce Base. What secrets await you there at the end?
Oblivion Override Platforms
Oblivion Override is set for release on PC. There’s no word yet from the developers on whether it will come to other platforms, though the game may be ported once it’s out of early access.
Oblivion Override Gameplay
Oblivion Override is a 2D side-scrolling hack-and-slash roguelike. Gameplay consists of killing enemies, dodging their attacks, countering, hopping on walls, and securing upgrades for your robot, Crimson. Every time you die in the game, you'll have to start again from the very beginning because of the permadeath mechanic.
What’s great about this though is that you get to keep whatever upgrades you got while playing the game, so you’ll go back into Dulce Base stronger and more prepared for what’s ahead of you. Once you go back though, you’ll notice that certain enemy placements have changed. Maybe even the base layout has changed too. That’s because of the game’s roguelike nature; every replay is a different experience.
Oblivion Override Weapons
According to Oblivion Override’s Steam page, you can get your hands on up to 23 different weapons, ranging from a pair of giant fists to dual-wielded bayonets, to increasingly large swords, and even a keyboard that fires letters. Yes.
Each of these weapons has its own unique playstyle, so you'll need to choose carefully as to what weapon would be easier for you to get used to and develop your own style with.
