Sea of Thieves Season 9 Content Update
Season 9 is the upcoming update for Sea of Thieves. The game developers held a live stream event to showcase what players can expect in the new season, which is set to be released on March 16th.
During the live stream, the developers focused on two main things. The first half of the stream was dedicated to celebrating the game's five-year journey. The second half of the stream was dedicated to providing players with a preview of Season 9. The developers premiered a trailer that gave players an idea of what they could expect from the upcoming season.
Sea of Thieves Season 9 Highlighted Features
Sea of Thieves Season 9 will have new features, including the Chest of Fortune, with recent commendations and cosmetics. There will also be changes to Reaper Chests, new voyages for captains and pirate legends, and better balancing of world events based on crew size.
Players can expect more than 100 levels of seasonal progression to earn rewards by increasing their Renown.
The improvements in the game result from community feedback, such as better treasure harpooning, a radial food menu, and seagulls indicating sunken player ship loot. The issue of Reapers hiding their treasures by going into the Devil's Shroud will be fixed by making the loot spawn in a safer spot nearby, giving other players a chance to loot it.
Season of Thieves 5th Anniversary Celebration Events
Marauder's Medley
The Marauder's Medley Event is a 10-day celebration of Sea of Thieves five-year existence.
It consists of five Tasks spanning 48 hours each and has distinct Objectives to test the talents of pirates. The difficulty levels of the goals are easy, medium, and hard, with varied amounts of gold and renown as prizes.
There will be brand-new and vintage anniversary cosmetics like the Fantastic Five Eyepatch, Golden Sailor Wheel and Cannons, Prosperous Captain's Sails, and X Marks the Spot Eye of Reach. Players who complete any Goal will receive the anniversary-themed reward for that Challenge. More goals completed will result in more gold and renown.
Sea of Thieves Anniversary Cosmetic Giveaways and Discounts
From March 17 to March 22, any player who logs into Sea of Thieves will be given the Lustrous Legend Figurehead. Additionally, the game's in-game store, the Emporium, will have a discount sale from March 17 to March 28.
During this time, players who have Ancient Coins (the game's premium currency) can purchase classic ship sets, costumes, weapons, and items from the Sea of Thieves: A Pirate's Life expansion at a discounted price. Furthermore, players can also acquire a free Down the Hatch emote from the Emporium during the sale.
Community Weekend
Since the game has a great community, it is no surprise that it will mark its anniversary from March 25 to March 27 with a Community Weekend. The duration of this event will be double that of typical Community activities. Large multipliers and special login incentives like the gold and black Community Day flag and Baker's Barrel Disguise Emote will be part of it. Also, any player who logs in throughout the event will get a free copy of Pirate Legend Cruise.
Ancient Skeletons will appear more frequently during the event and offer 50 million Ancient Coins to those who can advance the game to Community Emissary Grade Five. Nearer to the event date, further details will be given regarding how it will operate.

The 5th-anniversary celebration of Sea of Thieves promises to be an excellent party for newbies and veteran players. Players can look forward to earning rewards, getting freebies, and experiencing exciting quests.
