The Legend of Zelda Movie Director Shares His Vision for the Film
"I’ve Been Thinking About it for a Long Freakin’ Time"
As reported by GamesRadar over the weekend, the latest issue of their magazine "Total Film" contains an interview with Wes Ball, the director of the upcoming live-action The Legend of Zelda movie. From the bits of quotations provided by the publication, Ball shares his excitement, aspirations, and visions for the Zelda movie.
"I have this awesome idea. I’ve been thinking about it for a long freakin’ time, of how cool a Zelda movie would be…" He acknowledges the extremely high expectations fans everywhere would have of a live-action adaptation of the video game franchise, and affirms that he is up to the task. " I want to fulfil [sic] people’s greatest desires. I know it’s important, this [Zelda] franchise, to people and I want it to be a serious movie."
He highlights escapism as an important aspect of the film, hoping to instill a sense of "I want to live in that world" into future moviegoers.
"A real movie that can give people an escape. That’s the thing I want to try to create – it’s got to feel like something real. Something serious and cool, but fun and whimsical."
This would be in line with Ball’s previous comments about his vision for the film, mentioning his inspiration to make the Zelda movie feel like a live-action Hayao Miyazaki Film.
As of writing, no information on the movie’s current development progress has been made available or deduced by the general public. Ball is still currently occupied with his other movie set to release this year, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.
