According to Window Central's exclusive report, Xbox President Sarah Bond held a recent internal briefing wherein the company's commitment to game preservation and Xbox forward compatibility took center stage. With Microsoft's overarching "Xbox Everywhere" strategy of catapulting Xbox to a higher global reach, Bond expressed their commitment to making Xbox games available for newer emerging hardware.
While underscoring Xbox's history of delivering backward compatibility, the Xbox boss revealed that the company has set up a team dedicated to likewise future-proof digital Xbox game libraries. "We have formed a new team dedicated to game preservation, important to all of us at Xbox and the industry itself," Bond said, "We are building on our strong history of delivering backwards compatibility to our players, and we remain committed to bringing forward the amazing library of Xbox games for future generations of players to enjoy."
New Hardware Will Be Xbox's "Biggest Technological Leap"
In line with the development, Xbox reiterated its plans of building the next Xbox console. "We are moving full speed ahead on our next-generation hardware, focused on delivering the biggest technological leap ever in a generation," read the Xbox president's email. Bond also highlighted the company's focus on gaming AI as a cornerstone of its vision for the future of Xbox on "delivering player-first, developer-first value for discovery, engagement, and creator velocity."
Additionally, Bond revealed that Xbox has emerged as the leading platform for Diablo 4 following its inclusion in Xbox Game Pass. As part of the Activision-Blizzard acquisition, Bond reiterated their efforts to integrate the Activision-Blizzard catalog and Battle.net into Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass.
