In celebration of Global Accessibility Awareness Day, Microsoft recently unveiled a new Xbox adaptive controller developed in collaboration with ByoWave, dubbed the "Proteus Controller." Designed as an "all-in-one kit," this wireless controller empowers gamers with disabilities to customize their gaming experience. Featuring innovative "snap and play" components that "easily connect together" and come "with everything that gamers need to play."

Among its notable features are small cubes with interchangeable faceplates containing controller buttons, a directional pad, and analog sticks. According to ByoWave’s website, players can craft over "100 million traditional and custom configurations and LED lighting variations" with the Proteus Controller.

Upon its release, the Proteus Controller will be compatible with the Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PCs running Windows 10 and 11.
