After taking the world by storm, The Last Of Us was renewed right away for a second season, way back in January of 2023. However, Hollywood actor and writer strikes prevented any substantial work from being done. Luckily, these strikes are through and the show is set to start production in January of 2024, a whole year after it was renewed.

According to Production List, Season 2 will start filming in Vancouver on January 7, 2024. If you’re keeping tabs on the show’s production, then this may not be surprising to you, since HBO CEO Casey Bloys revealed earlier this month that the show would begin filming in early 2024.

While production is starting very soon for Season 2, we’d have to wait pretty long to see the fruit of their work. Season 2 was planned to be released in 2025, prior to the strike. Whether or not the strike will delay the release date is still unknown. In the meantime, HBO’s House of the Dragon is set to be released in the summer of 2024. The hit Game of Thrones prequel’s schedule was not affected by the strikes whatsoever.

The Last of Us also had plans to produce a multiplayer title for the award-winning game franchise. However, that was put on hold following a layoff wave hitting Naughty Dog, the game’s developers. Additionally, Naughty Dog expressed the possibility of The Last of Us: Part III, which still hasn’t been formally announced.
