Unconfirmed Mobile Game Reportedly In the Works by The Day Before CEOs
Allegedly Recruiting Former Fntastic Employees
Eduard and Aisen Gotovtsev, founders of the now-defunct studio Fntastic, were reported to be making a new mobile game. Polish video game outlet CD-Action reported to have spoken with a former employee who revealed that the studio's leadership is seeking veterans to contribute to the development of their new mobile game.
The brothers reportedly approached former Fntastic employees, including those who resigned or were let go due to the abrupt shut down of the studio. Specific details about the mobile game remain undisclosed. Months before the release of The Day Before on December 7, 2023, the Gotovtsev brothers allegedly began spreading the word among associates about their intention to create the new mobile game.
The Gotovtsev brothers have not addressed the reports nor officially announced the mobile game project.
A former Fntastic employee revealed that disagreements with the founders' opinions, even when seemingly evident, carried the risk of termination. In cases of heated disputes, contracts were reportedly terminated. Despite the challenges faced during the development and launch of The Day Before, several developers reportedly opted to join the project.
The Day Before experienced a rapid decline following its release, with servers permanently shut down just 45 days after its launch. The game encountered a surge of negative reviews on Steam, prompting numerous refund requests. A previous report indicated approximately 90,000 out of the 200,000 copies sold were refunded, just over a week after its release in December 2023.
Since then, Fntastic rebranded to 'Eight Points,' as indicated on the Steam page for one of their previous titles, The Wild Eight.
