Stellar Blade Scores Highest Metacritic User Score in 2024 So Far
Facing the Giants
With the stellar reviews and the applause sent by critics and fans alike, it’s no surprise that Stellar Blade is doing pretty well. So well, that it has the highest User Score on Metacritic this year so far. The game overtook Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Persona 3 Reload, and Helldivers 2 in terms of the User Score. Comparatively speaking, it even beats out Elden Ring and Baldur’s Gate 3’s User Scores, but of course these games were released a year or two before, respectively.
This, however, should not be confused with the Critic Score. While the game is still a "Generally Favorable" game scoring an 82 on Metacritic from 122 critic reviews, it still scores less than some of the aforementioned titles as well as Tekken 8, Dragon’s Dogma 2, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, and more.
Topping the Charts
It’s also been reported that the game has done well commercially, as it was the best-selling physical game in the UK last week. Stellar Blade topped the charts followed by Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, TopSpin 2K25, Hogwarts Legacy, and more. While there hasn’t been an official statement by Shift Up or Sony regarding the game’s sales, it would be safe to assume that the game is doing pretty well.
Censorship Didn’t Stop the Game From Doing Well
If you’ve been browsing social media, then you might’ve caught wind of the fans’ pointing out that the game was actually censored despite the developers stating otherwise. This stems from several changes to several outfits that EVE can wear as well as other mechanics related to blood that were present during the demo but not in the final and updated version of the game itself. This has started a trend to "#FreeStellarBlade" with the petition already past its initial goal and reaching up to 62,262 signatures as of writing.
